My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous brunch here yesterday, after he searched online for best breakfast places in Niagara. The outside is unassuming, as it is part of a little strip mall, but inside is like stepping back into my childhood kitchen! 1960s/70s furniture in excellent condition, Corelle dishes that my mom had and a wonderful display of coloured dishes, signs, even an old stove on display! Oh and the food was amazing! The menu has your typical breakfast items, but also includes some unique concoctions! I had a difficult time deciding, but fortunately the coffee was good and attentive service meant my cup was never empty. My non-vegetarian husband ordered the Sweet Potato Bean Chili that came with 2 sunny side up eggs on top, with sour cream and tortilla chips and was the perfect spice and heat level (sorry, I missed the photo op!) A side order of potatoes rounded out his meal. I ordered the Grilled Steak & Eggs Salad. OMG it was fabulous!!! St. Catharines meet Asia! Marinated, then grilled and sliced flat iron steak, loads of baby kale and veggies, grains, rice noodles, peanuts, cilantro, sesame-ginger dressing and quartered soft-boiled eggs decorating the edge of the bowl. Even though the frigid outdoor temperature was influencing a hot meal, this was outstanding and hit the spot. Afterwards I felt fantastic and the flavour left in my mouth was incredible! Definitely recommend this restaurant. Family-owned and run, innovative dishes, great service and reasonably priced.
Visited for the first time this week and totally fell for the adorable retro kitsch decor and eclectic menu that combines traditional breakfast fare with a fun hipster - esque vibe. I had the crustless shitake mushroom/spinach/feta quiche with great hash browns and a full size honey garlic sausage link. Not only was the food the best restaurant breakfast food (possibly ever)but the plating really elevated the whole dish. I haven't been anywhere else in Niagara that takes the care to artfully present breakfast the way you would expect lunch or dinner in an arty upscale place. Very cool.
I brought my friend here for her birthday breakfast and what a feast! We both ordered the pecan-cranberry French Toast, with dried cranberries, slivered apples, whipped cream and exquisite shards of walnut brittle -- AND it came with maple bacon! Usually I get that sugar bubble in my throat after eating French Toast or waffles with syrup, but this was the most amazing gastronomical experience! I devoured the whole plate, and did not feel bloated, but just enjoyed all the tastes and textures ricocheting off my tongue and palate. The pecan-cranberry bread is made in-house, sliced thick, and bathed in an egg wash. Perfectly cooked! The slivered apples piled on top gave that fresh crunch to the warm eggy bread, and then came the walnut brittle to make me feel like I was eating dessert for breakfast! So sinful but sooo good!
